  Silicon to be replaced in transistors ?

The researchers at MIT and elsewhere have found a new methodology of making transistors which could help unleash the potential of 2D materials and further the miniaturization of components, possibly enough to extend Moore's law, at least for the near future. The 2D materials or sheets, just a few atoms thick, meet all requirements for enabling miniaturisation, potentially reducing several times a key parameter called the channel length, from around 5 to 10 nanometres in current cutting-edge chips to a sub-nanometer scale.

                                                                      
SPATIAL AUDIO FEATURE LAUNCHED IN APPLE AIRPODS 

Apple has recently launched the 3rd generation of Airpods, which has a striking resemblance to Airpods pro launched by the same company. The Airpods 3rd gen have a comparitively smaller stem for better grip and better audio output along with the new spatial audio feature. 
It is currently priced at ₹ 18,500/- in the Indian markets. It is made available through the Apple India Online store and will be available for purchase starting from October 26th.

FACEBOOK LOSING ITS TEEN AUDIENCE

According to a recent research conducted by Pew Centre Of Research, amongst teens aged 13-17 years who have a smartphone, about 85% use youtube, 72% use instagram, 69% use snapchat and just 51% use facebook. This could possibly be because of the fact that facebook might have been illegally storing users' data without their consent.

ROBOTIC BARTENDER THAT SERVES DRINKS


Cecila, a robotic bartender that works based on Artificial Intelligence(AI) to interact with customers and to cater to their needs has been launched. It has the ability to chat with customers, get input from the user and can apparently serve up to 120 cocktails an hour.
It is available for sale at $45,000 or can be hired for $2000 a month.
                                                                             



Robots being used in door delivery orders

Dozens of knee-high robots are being used to deliver food orders in the UK and USA to deliver food.
 They can carry upto 4 large sized pizzas. The CEO of Starship company (the one responsible for implementing robot-door-delivery technology in his business) says that the demand has been through the roof and this technology was very successful mainly because of the pandemic situation amidst rising safety concerns amongst the general public.                                                                         

Google introduces Multitask Unified Model

Google recently conducted a Search On event during which it made a number of statements and ideas which could potentially enhance the server, the most important one of which was MUM (Multitask
Unified Model).
MUM has the ability to make complex tasks possible using the AI text framework and provide search results 100x more efficient than the current one.
                                                                      

   People can now check their blood cell count at home easily

Ministry of electronics and information technology launched the 'Swadeshi Microprocessor Challenge recently' to boost the technological innovations involving technology for the rapidly developing nation.
Financial support of about 4.4 crore was provided at various stages and more than 6000 teams participated of which 100 were chosen as semi finalists and of which 30 teams' ideas were given financial and technical assistance.
Cytox, at the third position won 25 lakhs for their 'cell count' innovation
